Service Rates and Project Estimates

Design and programming costs are estimated and charged at $35 per hour.

Web and Technical services include (but are not necessarily limited to):

• web site review and optimization consultation (meta tags, SEO, etc.)
• layout slice-n-dicing (i.e., An interface scripted into a webpage)
• data collection and processing (CSS, XHTML, JavaScript and PHP)
• database concepting and development (i.e., XML, JSON and SQL)
• hand-coded object-oriented programming
• email listserve setup and newsletter templating
• commerce catalog and content management system installation, branding and customization.
• high-resolution photo imaging and graphical design (i.e. cataloging, template design, identity logo & branding)
• technical consultation, non-technical mediation and concensus-based facilitation
• product documentation, copywriting and proof-reading
• office software and networking support
• server environment troubleshooting and technical maintenance

This is the in-house breakdown of work around here, so work is calculated against a project budget to get things more closely appropriated.

• design and discovery - 5%
  Design your own site needs, or pick and choose between content modules and featurettes.
• form and function - 15%
  Identify gaps and accelerate asset delivery with data schemas, textual copy lists and graphics outlines.
• modules and featurettes - 20%
  Focus on a collaborative roadmap keeps things moving through technical development, on-time and within budget.
• technical implementation - 60%
  Interact with proven data structures built on developer-supported frameworks to meet today's demands and tomorrow's expansions.

As a rule of thumb, if your budget is between $600-$3000, depending on the amount of pages and features, you would be choosing toward a simpler, more basic level of design.

Whereas, if your budget is above $3,000, you would be choosing more toward the advanced and customized side. This is fair, of course, unless your application is complex or page quantity is large.

Web Hosting Considerations

As a software developer, I let the hardware guys focus on their thing so I can focus on mine. however, this still allows for help with:

• configuration of server environments
• hosting account setups
• search engine domain masking and redirects
• database maintenance and optimization
• and, of course, email account management

This leaves the actual web server and DNS accounting to the pros, who maintain backups and make sure things cross the digital realm.
